Work & Travel (USA)

  The Work & Travel Program is a Cultural Exchange Visitor Program offered by the United States Department of State  that allows international university students to come to the United States (J-1 Visa) during their university break (see chart below) for short-term employment and an opportunity to travel.  The program is designed to promote international and cultural exchange through firsthand experience and interaction via seasonal employment opportunities. The Work & Travel Program enables qualified students to enter the U.S. and work for a maximum of four (4) months. During this time the students will experience the American culture and way of life, thus allowing them to return home to share their experiences.  The Work & Travel Program is governed and monitored by the U.S. Department of State , while most other programs are governed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
